Well… It’s Been a While! 😳💜
I’ve just looked at the date of my last blog post and apparently it was 11th May 2023.
THREE YEARS AGO. 😂
So I think it’s safe to say an update is slightly overdue!
A lot has changed since I wrote that post. Families@Soul has grown, changed and developed in ways I probably couldn’t have imagined back then — and we now have a home that I’m incredibly proud of at The Corner House Family & Community Hub CIO.
What hasn’t changed is why I do it.
Families@Soul has always been about creating a place where families feel welcome, supported and able to just be themselves.
From baby groups to so much more 💜
These days, our weeks are certainly never quiet!
We have baby sensory sessions, stay & play groups, Sing & Wiggle, infant massage courses, SEND sessions, wellbeing activities, themed sessions, special events and plenty of madness thrown in along the way.
Some sessions sell out almost as quickly as I put them online — something I will never take for granted.
But behind all those sessions is something much bigger.
I’ve watched babies who first came to my groups grow into toddlers and children. I’ve welcomed younger siblings into the same groups. I’ve watched parents arrive knowing nobody and leave with friendships and support networks of their own.
That’s the bit that matters most to me.
The Corner House 🏠
One of the biggest changes since my last blog is our home.
Families@Soul now runs from The Corner House Family & Community Hub CIO in Birkenhead.
The Corner House has allowed us to create much more than somewhere to attend a baby group.
It’s become a place for families to meet, children to play, people to ask for help, communities to come together and, sometimes, somewhere to simply sit down with a cuppa when life feels a bit much.
There have been plenty of long days, late nights, fundraising, painting, moving furniture, building ridiculous themed rooms and me having yet another idea that probably sounded much easier in my head. 😂
But seeing families walk through those doors makes it worth it.
And apparently I still don’t know how to slow down… 😂
If you’ve known me for any length of time, this part won’t surprise you.
There’s always another session, event, fundraiser or idea brewing.
Somehow we’ve gone from regular baby groups to huge family events, Halloween, Christmas, SEND provision, wellbeing sessions, fundraisers, animal experiences, character events and goodness knows what I’ll have thought of by the time you’re reading this. 😂
But underneath all the chaos is the same purpose I’ve always had:
Support. Optimism. Understanding. Love.
That’s what SOUL stands for, and that’s what I want families to experience when they’re with us.
So… shall I try blogging again? 👀
I’m definitely not promising a blog every week — we’ve all seen how well that went last time. 😂
But I would love to start using this little part of the website again.
Not just to tell you what’s coming up, but to share some of what happens behind the scenes, the reality of running our groups and The Corner House, the people who help make it possible and some of the incredible things happening within our little community.
If you’ve been with Families@Soul since the early days, thank you for still being here.
And if you’ve only recently found us, welcome to the madness. 💜
Hopefully it won’t be another three years before the next blog.
